The doctors risking it all to treat Iran’s protesters: how they do it and how it’s done

It is impossible to find footage of these extraordinary doctors treating the protesters of Tehran.

They are risking their lives and their personal safety for the health and welfare of these people. They are risking arrest if the government sees them on camera. As Iranian doctors they get no support from their employers. They have lost their jobs and their pensions as a result of the protests. They no longer have health insurance.

The world should know about them.

This is the story of these brave doctors risking it all to treat their country’s most vulnerable people. Their work is the stuff of newsworthy stories. Even if they make it to Iran, it is unlikely that the Iranian government would appreciate their efforts in support of so many in need.

There was a video the other day of these doctors performing surgery on a protester. What if that patient were a citizen of Iran? Who would be responsible for the doctor performing the operations? Would the government take responsibility, perhaps even the health ministry? Would there be a need for a trial? Where would the video of these professional doctors go as well? What would happen to the video of the protests, if the health ministry or the authorities saw it?

How are these doctors doing this? What is the process they use?

We are talking about the most essential of all things in medicine: a relationship with the patient. There would be no medicine without a relationship, right? This is what these amazing doctors understand and they are willing to risk their freedom and lives to help others.
