“It would be a dream if we could bring all of you one giant Happy Turkey,” is the way Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade says, “celebrate the day you’ve been waiting for,” to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade audience.

Yes, there’s a “Happy Turkey” in the Thanksgiving Day Parade, but the turkey is actually an animated character called “Turbo” and it is much larger than the other characters.

But then, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a parade with a very different theme than in years past, and for the first time ever the character is a spinoff of the 2012 film and pop musical “Pitch Perfect.”

And while the music and costumes and light and sound effects used in the new show are all very “Pitch Perfect” – or at least similar to it – none of it has anything to do with the story of their characters.

In other words, the new parade has its own theme and concept and meaning. And that was the challenge the cast members – the first time ever a spinoff of “Pitch Perfect” has occurred – faced to create something new and different.

“If we’re going to be on the same stage, we have to find a way to be as different as possible from one another,” said Sarah Hyland in an interview with Variety. “In order to do that, it has to be a story we all care about and are invested in.”

Sarah Hyland, Adam DeVine, Chris Mooney and Molly Shannon have been the stars and stars of the show, which premieres Oct. 6 and closes Oct. 30. The show will play to the largest crowd ever to attend the parade – more than 300,000 to this day –
