AMAs 2022 red carpet: Celebrity fashion wins at American Music Awards
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Celebrity fashion was front and center at the first annual American Music Awards where celebs and fashionistas gathered to honor music and artists in the world of country music.
In the months leading up to the show, all eyes turned toward the red carpet, where fashion was expected to be front and center.
And as expected, it was. The red carpet was dotted with a number of fashion houses, from the big three — Chanel, Versace, Carolina Herrera and Christiane Amanpour — to lesser-known designers and trends like printed dresses and oversized jewelry.
“Fashion is more than just what you are wearing, it’s what you are thinking,” noted Cara Delevingne who wore her bold red dress with a high-waisted white trousers and a statement crystal beaded necklace. “I think it’s quite the opposite really. Fashion is so much about what you’re thinking. It’s about who you are and what you’re going to wear.”
The American Music Awards is a yearlong show that honors the top country artists and albums of the year with a mix of music, personalities, news, style and entertainment. It was created by ABC.
ABC also hosted a number of other awards for stars including the NAACP Image Awards on Sunday night.
Country music stars like Luke Combs and Miranda Lambert made it clear that they were not going to hold back on the red carpet.
Lambert said that she is “trying to make a statement” by wearing black and white to the event.
“I’m thinking about the next generation,” Lambert explained. “I’m also showing that you don’t need to wear black and white in a big fancy thing. But you can be bold and go really big and show who you are.”
Lambert, a young country superstar with a voice that can turn heads in any room, was joined on the red carpet by fellow country singer Toby Keith, who wore a white suit and black shoes.
